The Ninth Stone

Nine stones hold the boundary. One is missing.

For three years, warden Alys Crane has walked the boundary at Fenwrought, paying for her magic with years of her life. When the Ninth Stone disappears from its socket, she has thirty days to restore it before the breach becomes permanent.

Magical compliance investigator Cassiel Rowe arrives from Gallowsreach to investigate. Together, they must follow the evidence through a world governed by old bargains, where the cost of power is never merely theoretical.

As the investigation draws them closer, trust becomes as dangerous as the mystery they are trying to solve. In Vaelmoor, debts come due, and choosing whom to believe can change everything.
